Urban Photography – Rasht

Today, the role of photography in human life is undeniable. We are surrounded by images and we have no escape from them. Without our image in social life, we are unrecognisable and without identity. In the words of Halla Beloff * “Because we believe we are witnessing reality, we believe only in what we see with our eyes. But we just do not see, the camera does not. We distort information according to our goals, needs, tendencies and expectations … We apply a simple model of empiricist philosophy to our lives; There is what we see; What we do not see does not exist, and just as we believe in our eyes and judge them, so we validate the work of the camera

However, perhaps our attempt to show our world (our city as part of our world) and identify, or perhaps the discovery of these identities is an attempt to discover the world and ultimately discover ourselves. Discover our beings, discover our past and maybe our future. Discover our abilities and talents in history. Demonstrating – presenting and displaying all this was not possible except with the unique and experienced experience of image (photography). The experience of becoming and depicting the essence of an identity, a city, a living, as a citizen in a transcendent and dynamic social environment, the experience of identifying a part of history, and discovering this identity in the form of a city and our birthplace called “Rasht

Rasht

Rasht (Persian: رشت ‎, Ŕäšt ; Gilaki: Rəšt; also as Resht and Rast, and often spelt Recht in French and older German manuscripts)is the capital city of Gilan Province, Iran. Also known as the “City of Rain” (شهر باران, Ŝahre Bārān), it had a population of 639,951 as of the 24 October 2011 census and is the most densely populated city of Iran

Rasht is the largest city on Iran’s Caspian Sea coast. It is a major trade center between Caucasia, Russia and Iran using the port of Bandar-e Anzali. Rasht is also a major tourist center with the resort of Masouleh in the adjacent mountains and the beaches of Caspian as some of the major attractions

Historically, Rasht was a major transport and business center which connected Iran to Russia and the rest of Europe, and because of this was known as the “Gate of Europe”. The city has a history that goes back to the 13th century but its modern history dates back to the Safavid era during which Rasht was a major silk trade center with numerous textile workshops
